Christopher W. Tyler, Ph.D., is a visual psychophysicist and is the Head of the Smith-Kettlewell Brain Imaging Center. Christopher explores the processes of human vision in order to see how the eyes and brain work together to produce sight. He applies techniques from electrical engineering to the study of vision; from color to motion to 3-D vision, Christopher has introduced engineering concepts to describe the speed and capabilities of the visual system. Christopher’s current interests include mathematical modeling of 3-D stereoscopic depth and pattern perception, such as texture and symmetry. Using new techniques to investigate visual processes, Christopher is able to explore their properties in the human brain.
